Defense News takes home two defense awards

OCTOBER 15, VIENNA, VA – Sightline, parent company of Defense News, announced that its journalists walked away with two awards at the 2019 Defence Media Awards in Washington DC. Jen Judson won Best Un-manned Systems submission and Valerie Insinna won Best Breaking Story.

The Defence Media Awards recognize the work of defense journalists and publishers and covers the many sectors of the defense industry. The awards were presented at the National Press Club in Washington DC. “We’re honored to be recognized among the many incredible defense journalists. I know the reporters with Defense News feel so honored to do the work they do each day,” says Jill Aitoro, Executive Editor of Defense News.

This is the second year in a row Sightline Media Group has won at this particular awards show. At these same awards in 2018, Jen Judson of Defense News was named the best young journalist, and our European editor Sebastian Sprenger, also with Defense News, took home the award for best training and simulation submission.

The Defence Media Awards program is produced by the same group behind Aerospace Media Awards which are announced in Europe typically during the Paris and Farnborough Air Shows.
